Michelle Ramin @ Tilde in September
Tilde will host a 1st Friday Reception for the Portland artist Michelle Ramin. Michelle will be showing a series of abstract landscapes and cityscapes as well as a brand new series focusing on the figurative image. Reception from 6pm-9pm, Friday, September 4th. The show will run through Sunday, September 27th.

Michelle Ramin was raised in the small town of Williamsport in Central Pennsylvania. She attended the Pennsylvania State University, from where she graduated in May 2005 with her B.A. in Drawing and Painting, Soon after, Michelle decided to venture to the eclectic city of Portland, Oregon to continue her artistic endeavors.
Michelle’s figurative painted series was inspired by a series of photographs of her sister taken in a short span of time. Almost a character study as Michelle studied the photos seeing and sensing her sister’s shifting moods, thoughts and physical movements. Michelle states “As amazingly gorgeous as nature and architecture can be, painting the figure forces us inward. It makes us see ourselves as individuals as well as a single body lurking our way through the whole of humanity.”
