Artist Statement:
I have a large collection of line drawings of people and backgrounds which I get from sketches and photos from around the city. These aids help to improvise a composition on paper usually with a subject matter in mind. My favorites subjects being musicians, workers, street scenes and street citizens. Next I establish the values involved in the drawing soon an image emerges. If I like the drawing I will do a painting or pastel of the composition
The reason I do people is because it isn’t often done plus it helps me relate to them more. My specific subjects of work or music are chosen because of interest or experience with it. In addition I love American music especially Jazz, Blues and Rock. I worked for 15 years as a truck driver thus giving the subject of blue collar workers dignity. I love the excitement and possibilities of our city so use street scenes as subject matter for the creation of my art.
I love the creative process and love to see something new emerge each time I create a new drawing or painting. Come see my new work.
