Day of the Dead at Sidestreet Gallery

The holiday has come to mean many things both in Mexico and in the USA where people see it in its original context, the honoring of one’s ancestors, and in a more contemporary sense of appreciating the folk art tradition.  Close to our own Halloween which has roots in the Celtic festival of Samhain and the Christian holiday All Saints’ Day.  A similar festival was held by the ancient Britons and is known as Calan Gaeaf (pronounced Kálan Gái av).

The show runs from Sept. 3 thru Sept. 30
